Curio, a quiz climb with the source under every answer

One prompt to Codex, a little after five in the afternoon:

a simple quizduell / trivial pursuit type game. prototype as mobile first PWA. include explanations for the right answer and source links just in case some answers actually turn out to be wrong... solo game for now. make sure to include a diverse array of topics and difficulties.. just like Wer Wird Millionaer ... you know, stages of knowledge but never so specific that you could only know it by being a doctor in that field

Codex named it Curio and asked where it should live. My answer: just public gee... why so secretive. Nineteen minutes after the prompt it reported the game live, with 90 questions, 15 passing logic tests and browser checks at five screen widths.

Curio on a phone. A cream page with the wordmark curio and the line Stay curious. A pale green card reads The daily mix, 5 Nov, Big world. Curious you. A fresh trail through six topics, with 15 questions, 5 to 10 minutes, 3 hearts, and a dark green button Let's find out
The start screen. The daily mix is the same fifteen questions for everyone on the same calendar day.

Every answer comes with a why

A round climbs five levels, from Warm-up to The big finish, three questions at each, and every round touches all six topics: our world, science and nature, history, arts and words, screen and sound, sport and play. You have three hearts, one 50:50 and one pass. There is no timer. Right or wrong, the answer opens a short explanation and a link to the page it came from, as the brief asked: if a question turns out to be wrong, you can see it.

Question 1 of 15, Science and nature, level 1 of 5, Warm-up: How many legs does an insect have? Four, Six, Ten, Eight. Six is marked green with a tick, and below it: A little wiser. Nicely done! Adult insects have three pairs of legs attached to the thorax. Spiders have eight legs and belong to a different group: arachnids. Read the source, Wikipedia
Level 1. A right answer and its explanation.
Question 10 of 15, Our world, level 4 of 5, Deep thinker: What do contour lines on a map connect? Places with equal rainfall is marked red with a cross, Points of equal elevation green with a tick. Below: One to remember for next time. Contour lines trace a constant height above a reference level. Closely packed lines indicate steep slopes; widely spaced ones indicate gentler terrain. Read the source, Wikipedia. Save this discovery. Something off?
Level 4. A miss costs a heart and still teaches.
The results screen: You made the climb. Look at you, curious mind. 5,200 points earned, 14 of 15 correct answers, 93 percent accuracy, a button Another little adventure, and below it Your trail of discoveries listing each question with its topic and level
The end of a round, with every question listed to look back at.

Any explanation can be saved to a notebook. "Something off?" lets you write a note on a question. The game installs as an app and plays offline, and a reload puts you back on the same question.

Not on ChatGPT

The first link Codex gave me pointed to ChatGPT's own hosting, a chatgpt.site subdomain. One minute later:

please stop deploying to chatgpt. we have my webspace and that's what it's for. general global rule for all agents

It saved the rule and left the game where it was. Asked for a clickable link twenty-four minutes later, it gave me the ChatGPT one again. WOOOOOW you STILL havent moved to my webspace. Four minutes after that it was on projects.patrickreinbold.com, uploaded with the lima-city setup the other projects use, and the browser checks ran again against the new address.

Still rough

It is solo. The duel in quizduell, two people answering the same questions, is not there yet. Ninety questions is not many: a daily mix of fifteen will start repeating within the week. The top of the climb is gentle. A run through the daily mix for these screenshots met contour lines at level 4 and "what does a cappella mean" at level 5, so "never so specific that you would need to be a doctor" is kept by some margin. "Something off?" only saves your note on your own phone; nobody receives it. Progress lives in the browser and does not move between devices.
